Default tranny rattle mtx

I have used the search button and searched "tranny", "tranny problem" and "transmission" all with no luck. here's the question, does anyone know what might be causing a rattling sound (not too loud but loud enough to hear with the radio low) at low rpm (between about 1200-3000, hard to tell with no tach) under load? if i rev the car in neutral it sounds smooth and clean. it will also make the noise in reverse. any help at all would be great. im going to Dodge this weekend to pick up some Mopar mtx fluid and change the fluid but I really don't think it will help. it sounds kinda like tin, like a piece of thin sheet metal. at higher rpm it goes away. there is only 119k kilometers about 70k miles on the car. thanks

Ok so ive now noticed that it is def clutch related. at a stand still with the car in neutral if i press then release the clutch pedal i can hear a little metal on metal sound. i think it might just be the pressure plate but im also worried it could be the input shaft. if i were to jack the front of the car up and make sure the car is in neutral could i check for play by turning the wheel forward and back by hand? i dont know haw to check. help please!

it sounds like your throwout bearing. mine is making that same noise. my mechanic told me to keep driving it till i need a new clutch, that was over a year ago and 20,000 miles.

yea i agree its prolly just the throwout bearing... not too much to worry about but it could cause problems way down the road... do you powershift a lot? b/c that could prolly be the cause....

i actually just got the car. it was a noisy city test drive so i didn't hear anything. everything else is great though. I took it to the trany shop where my work sends all their trucks and the told me it was just a noisy tranny. they said it was 'tranny slack'. i was told to aske the dealer if there was a thicker oil i could use to clean up some of the slack. they said i couldn't just use anything because the fiber rings in the trany are very particular about their oil. So i went to the dealer and was told by the shop supervisor there was nothing i could do. they gave me Mopar ATF +4. Now im not too worried because the trany shop is really good and they told me not to worry but does anyone know if there is a heavier oil i can safely use? thanks for the replies!

the ATX and the MTX use the same oil. ATF+4 ONLY!!!!!! some guys on here say you can use other stuff.. racing oils and other types, but for your DD just use what the factory says. thats my opinion and i have logged about 200,000 neon miles in my life.
