Camshaft sensor
I have a 2004 dodge neon and I need to replace the camshaft sensor. Can someone tell me where the camshaft sensor is located at? And would it possiblea picture description of the location. thanks
If you have an autozone around I would go there and get your sensor only cost me 40bucks and they can show you where its located its in a pretty tricky spot. Took my brother and me an hr to do but it was very hot out and the sensor was pretty hot so if you do it now wont be so long toputon.
The camshaft sensor is located on the right side of the cylionder head just below the valve cover. Its held in place by four screws, and they're 10mm I think...it should take a whole ten minutes to remove the old one and install the new one. When I replaced mine, I think it cost like $13 at Autozone.

http://www.autozone.com/addVehicleId...leSelected.htm $30 at autozone, but check around at some of the smaller auto parts stores, usually you can get it cheaper from them.

Probably isn't good for the camshaft, but I have no clue. Just guessing.

Well mine just died going down the road and went to the nearest autozone and thats what her problem was that was last spring though and I called around and autozone was the cheapest in town for me 30 bucks sounds right. Its pretty tricky to change though.

Any number of things could happen, from very rough idle, to sluggish acceleration, to being stuck in "limp mode" (the computer doesnt allow you to rev over 3k and its very jerky under 3k), among other things. Depends on how badly the sensor has malfunctioned. The sensor itself doesnt control the cam in any way, its just a sensor the computer uses to see where the camshaft is during its rotation, and then it dicatates A/Fr's and other factor sfrom that and other data.
