I have a 04 SXT as you all know, well I needed an oil change. So I get my car jacked up and I find out there a liek either the oil filter wasn't tight enough or the oil pan gasket is breaking. My question if it is the oil pan what do all need to take off inorder to get to it? It maybe a stupid question but i need help!

 

if its your oil pan gasket, you might have hit something on it. i would also check to make sure all the bolts go back on to torque specs. my tranny pan was leaking when i bought mine used from the dealer. did a tranny flush and when i went to put the pan and gasket back on, three bolts wouldnt torque down. went back to dealer and had them rethreaded and different bolts installed. you might just have a loose filter or the oring wasnt lubed prior to install. the leak like that sometimes. also, check your drain plug. ive heard so many horror stories about these local lube places stripping the threads on your drain plugs or putting thread lock on them. its good you do it yourself.

 

inthewerks JIFFY LUBE does this a lot, I work at walmart TLE and see so many f'ed up jiffy lube cars

 

i know jiffy lube does it alot. when im in a hurry, i buy my oil and filter at autozone and drive up to walmart. they only charge me like 10 bucks for labor. and they never messed up my ride. one time jiffy lube forgot to lock my hood pins on my grandam and the hood came flying up and smashed my windshield. got a new hood, windshield and never went back there again.
