i have a wrecked 2nd gen 5 speed neon...i was wondering if that trans and everything will work as a direct swap in a 1st gen both SOHC

 

00-02 will work with te first gen wiring... may have to re-wire a few sensors. not sure. 03+ will not work with first gen wiring.

 

For a near "direct swap", the manual transmissions from the 2000 model year Neons is your only option (and the 1st Gen wiring/sensors like Graphite stated)...otherwise with an 01-02 tranmsission you'll have to swap over the hydraulic clutch setup.
