I have one that I'll be installing on the week-end, its a MPx... I was wondering if I needed any special tools to get it on ??...and do I need to heat it ??.... Thanx

Heating it makes it easier to put it on. I have an AFX udp that I use to drive around with on my 00' Neon but I took it off. I ended up customizing one from Modern performance to work better with my sound system. I ended up taking that off too. I don't think it's worth it. Some people seem to think so. I believe it reduced the life of some of my accessories like my power steering pump and alternator. I believe you need to use a harmonic balancer for the install.
I bought one over the winter along with new belts... Really debating on putting it on or not??? I also have a pretty decent sound system and don't want any issues if there really is any involving the alt or other elctrical components...
If you are running a sound system and you want to keep it, then don't install the UDP. I had a unorthodox on my 2003... never had to heat it. machined to perfection. You do have to pay for quality you know...
First day in traffic, the battery light came on... i had to make a decision. Free up horsepower or be loud. Needless to say the system was out as soon as i got home. although i did get out in the middle of a five lane highway to pull the power line off the amp. lol Wanting your car to be fast, yet putting a 100+ system in your trunk kinda defeats the purpose. I'm also gonna turn 31 in a few months and my hearing is junk from years of banging systems. I guess i should have listened to my parents...

I have a UDP and a 12" sub that makes plenty of bass with my everstart battery. I've yet to have a problem...I enjoyed the kick the UDP gave at first but now I can't feel it anymore. Eventually all your mods kind of "blend in" with each other and give you one driving experience. You slowly forget what each mod brought to the table..
Nonetheless I say get it. The AC is still blowing and the hit it takes was deffinetely reduced. I have almost 100k now so any problems I might experience from here on out were going to be needing replacement anyway.

I've had my Unorthodox UDP installed for a long time now and have yet to have any problems, I say go for it. Ok, I take that back, the one and only problem I have with the UDP is it tends to eat through belts a little quicker then the stock pulley did, but its not a deal breaker by any means...
