Default Aftermarket Sunroof

Hey everyone. Gotta question. I have an 05 sxt and really wanted a sunroof. I know a few guys that do them and they say I can only fit a small slider. Its about half the size of the factory one and they say the corners will look funny in certain light because the roof is "bubbly". Was wondering if I get a factory one, willthe munting holes be on the roof ready to puchout or if its even stamped for it. Let me know if anyone has gone through this. The car has 14,000 miles on it and I'd hate to hack it up with a crappy sunroof if its not gonna look right.

Nope, you can't install a factory sunroof after the fact AFAIK. And the aftermarket sun roofs leak, bind up, and all around suck for the most part...don't waste your money.

+1: Leaking is a major problem.

dont get an aftermarket roof. the glass and tracks are pretty much universal and are normally flat. it will look wierd on a neon and will probably leak too. im not sure if the neons all come pre stamped for a sunroof but if you pull down your head liner, you can answer your own question. let me know if it is though because i am also interested in doing this myself.

just get the full kit from the dealer or some other place that sells it.... dodgeparts.com or something idk... i think mine was installed with it b/c i have this little bump that looks like a weld of some sort or something.... either way it works i just have to figure out how to get this little rivet thing out of one of the parts that are in there b/c it rattles to high hell but other than that it looks nice and works nice

Yea I was scared to try the dealer but It wont hurt to ask. From what I hear they send them oyt as well. I went to the actual shop where they send the cars to and they told me it might look funny on my car. I think im gonna have to pass on this idea

hit the junk yards then..... just cut it out of the roof and there u go...... the nice thing about the neons is that for the most part the wiring harness is all the same for EVERY CAR.... i just pulled my wiring harness out of my car, and it has all the set up for ac, and power windows and locks.... so i am sure with some resurch u could find the plug in on a junk one with a sunroof and prolly will go right in... .. not 100% though, just try to get the wiring from the junk car.... and u should be set

as for mounting it.... not sure if everything is pre drilled, i would assume so....

it cut down on cost when dodge only has to make one mold and not two or three
