My neon sways a little when I go over 70mph.....when I have my factory 15's installed. When I had my 17s installed, I didn't notice it much at all.

 

LOL @ Wind !!! Are you guys serious? A neon is not lighter than an escort. Jack up the front end one side at a time (with the steering wheel locked)and then grab the front wheel at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and try to wiggle it left and right. Then do the other side. It should have very very little to no play. If it wiggles then you most likely need new tie rod ends which would explain exactly what is happening to your car. My wife's car was doing the same thing and I replaced both of her tie rod ends and no more swaying (get an alignment right after or say bye bye to your tires). Note: If you still have the stock tie rod ends you might want to have it done if you don't have an extensive tool collection. The stock ones have a ring pressed into the stock tie rod end that can be a bitch to get off. The good news is aftermarket replacement ones don't have it so you'll only have to deal with it once.

I was pretty sure I had the original tires on my 04.
and it was really getting bad on the freeway for me. lots of noise , even on the regular roads.

I was getting vibration anything over 70 to 75 mph (how fast is 120 k, anyway?)

AND I was getting some swaying...seems like I had to keep boths hands on the wheel tight, and if I moved the wheel even a little bit, was like I would have been out of control

My fix was getting my new rims and tires... none of the above occur anymore... feels like I'm ridin in a Caddilac compared to those old tires...I'm sure it was the tires...there may even have been broken or slipped steel belts in the old ones

 

Im just guessing that that bigger tires means better traction and thus, less swaying.
And like eveyone else has said, My car also does sway in the winds at 70+ mph. Its normal.

 

mine does it too. it's a light car. and also, they're not new any more, and all the bushings and everything else might not be as tight as new any more, so that makes it feel a little worse. however, sometimes i'm really nasty with it, so after 90+ it doesen't do it any more, actualy it really sticks to the road, maybe because of the lowered springs, but i just love the way it rides with 100-110mph, and all the smart a.... with some nicer cars try to keep up with me. it's just a NEON, as long as everything is nice and tight on the front and back, and the tires are in good condition, dont sweat on it.

 

yup just like everyone else mine does it too but its bad.if i hit a dip with a turn i cant be going more then 50 or ill probably lose control and die.recently i got some new suspention that lowered it an inch and it really helped.i would suggest putting weighton the front and rear to see if it creaks.mine did and thats what it was.if you change the springs or pull out that warranty im sure it should be fine...

I finally found out what the issue was and repaired it, all thanks to a good friend of mine!!!

haha i was showing off the new car to him and while he was looking it over decided to just push on the tires a bit. He gets around to the rear drivers side tire, puts his foot up, applies a bit of pressure, and then i hear a clunk and see the tire moving a bit. We push a bit more and it sounds like it is grinding and a bit loose and cluncking against something.

Imediately i knew that was the issue and took it into the dealer the next day which they repaired under warranty ( thank god for warranty's yay! ). now today, no more swaying, drive a straight line, and feels great!

hahahaha and all you guys thought it was wind :P

I noticed this problem as well just after I got my sxt. First thing I checked was my tire pressure, it was way low. filled them to the right psi and the swaying stopped.
Fast forward to today, the swaying has begun again, i have new tires, so now i'm blown on what it is... Maybe alignment?

 

if its not the wind then the only thing it could be is your bushings for your rear stabilizer bar.sometimes they will crack or just get old.for a good set with brackets it shouldn't be more then 20 bucks soo check it out and if its not that then theyre right.
