Gas... How Much Do You Pay?
lol u tell me.why is mobil so expensive when its american drilled???and shell and imported gas is better and cleaner...so WHY-TF is it more.

damn. gas went up to 4.39 for premium, and last couple weeks its been at 4.19. my car doesnt do backflips for me, but it pukes when i run 89 octane, i would never dare try to put 87 in it. i know its a 4 banger, but i dont really get outstanding city mileage for some reason, i think im right around 23mpg, i would rather save the 20 cents a gallon.

Yeah but there's a good chance that he's got the opposite problem... you would think if his O2 sensor was taking a dump, 93 octane would just make it that much worse... I would guess he needs to try the whole Seafoam thing maybe... good info either way though.
i was unaware why you directed me to another post. i open my fuel door, and it says premium fuel recommended. magnum 2.0 high output. car is kind of quick, and with running 92 octane every time i fill up, and full synthetic mobil 1 10w-30, i should be able to get close to 300,000 miles maybe? still curious why you pointed me to that forum, i think ive seen it around before.
Ok well good call on the octane fuel then... but are you sure 10W-30 is the way to go... I would lighten that up a bit and go with no thicker winter-weight than a 5W-30, unless you're autocrossing or something...
yeah pretty sure its 5w-30. just mistaken. so your o2 sensor can go bad without going bad? i know without one your car wont run (i think) but there is a possibility that it is going bad, since i am closing in on the 93k mark?
Well first, yeah if you're at 93k then there is a better possibility that your O2 sensor may be fouled or burnt up... not saying it is, I'm just saying that its a good possibility to look into since the "word" is that the O2 sensors in our cars are only rated to be reliable for about 80k... supposedly... but as far as your car not running when it goes bad, not true... it seems to me that in my car and others as well, that yes it can go bad without even throwing an engine code, which seems ridiculous but it happens. And in those cases and even if it does throw a code, your car will still start and run (usually) and get you where you need to go, although burning a lot of gas while you drive. About the only thing I could think of that would prevent your car from running is if you cut the wires to the sensor, although I'm not even 100% sure if that would do it... someone else may want to chime in on that one.
Really dont see 87 hurting anyones ride . So many use that and so do I and never have a problem . My ride still rides smooth like the day I got her having almost a 125,000 miles on now . 87 is one of the reasons why she gets such good gas mileage for an auto.
