Default Car lags when going over 60 MPH

My wifes 2005 Neon SXT started lagging and wouldn't go over 60 MPH, engine light came on and I put a code reader on it and it said-P0340 camshaft position sensor A(Bank 1 or single sensor). Just wondering what it could be, she said it lurched then it started happening. I don't know if this had anything to do with it but, she filled the gas tank the day before and forgot to put the cap back on. Any help would be good, Thank you.

Default RE: Car lags when going over 60 MPH

well there is a camshaft position sensor code showing, try changing the camshaft position sensor? i had the same problem. the car would not go over 2000 rpms for me in any gear. i switched the sensor (30 bucks at autozone) and it is located to the right of the engine, right to the left of the battery on the side sitting vertically. 4 bolts is all. take your battery out, along with your battery tray for easiest convenience. takes all of 30 seconds to swap out, then put your battery back in. if not check wiring to the sensor, but my sensor was fried at about 85000 miles.
