Second rule NEVER leave any wires exposed. Soldier and tape or tape all exposed wires. Unless you want to keep blowing fuse or worse electrical fire.

First off what radio are you geting or got?

 

You're going to need wire cutters, electrical tape and the test light. You attach it to a ground and it tells you what is a hot

They come out far enough. Just try not to pull on them cause you dont want any problems. If you Google the subject you'll find alot of info.
