Default Installing New Antenna

My gf's car hasn't had an antenna for a while for some reason but she has a replacement to go on it.

How exactly does this work?

Is there anywhere that shows where the wiring is run or can anyone explain it?

Thanks a lot.

On the replacement antennas I saw like at Walmart they want you to remove the mast (the part thats attached to the fender) and snip off the wire and hold it with some string or vice grips (so it wont fall into the fender well) and attach the new antenna. (I was going to get one for my other car and I almost bought it and I studied the instructions real good.) But here is what the book says to do...

How to remove the mast and antenna

Remove antenna mast by unscrewing mast
from antenna body
Locate the antenna lead disconnect in the
instrument panel wire harness above the right cowl
trim panel. Disconnect the antenna cable from the
instrument panel cable lead.
Unfasten push pins from the rear of the plastic
inner fender shield and move shield to gain access to
mounting screws
Remove mounting screws and remove antenna
base and cable assembly from under the fender

This part I saw this when I was installing my RCA cable.
