Just putting on a header will not blow your tranny... not in a Neon with no other big modifications.

Rule of thumb: Short-tube headers are good for increased horsepower, and mild torque increases over the stock manifold.

Long-tube headers are usually for higher flow, for maximum horsepower potential over a short-tube, but less torque increases than a short-tube header.

Put a CAI and a new cam w/new valve-springs in your car if you want to see more potential out of that header btw.

believe it or not man with a CAI and exhaust and a little tune up(plugs wires fluid change)
it will bump your regular neon up to a r/t's HP

CAI and exhaust alone, regardless of a tune-up, won't give you 150 hp (like the R/T)... you need an aftermarket cam at the least, and maybe even a larger TB to reach that consistently.

dude more airflow out and in will help your car so much...
the muffler is sideways..the only other bend is by the cat to take the pipes through to middle up to the manifold.now by cutting off the exhaust your letting the air strait out..it comes out the drivers side.less bends ='s more flow...our pipes are 2.25" now im not saying redo the whole thing...becase if you put duals or bigger pipes it will be louder but you'll lose so much back pressure it will hurt your performance...the regular neons push out 132 hp and the r/t's push 150 even...so CAI and exhaust with decent wires and plugs(ask everyone and NGK v-powers run best)with some FS oil and youll beat a stock R/T neon guarenteed
