Default 2nd gen piping answers

I talked to someone at ModernPerformance and I asked them about the borla dual cat exhaust, mainly about will it fit smoothly with my 2001 neon, he said it should, he said the only thing that may stop it is that the 2000 neons have a 2.00in piping and the 2001+ have the 2.25inch so that is what i was told directly from them, so hopefully it will help clear some things up. cause i know on their site it says for 2000+ neons that its .25inch larger than stock, but i guess thats just for the 2000 neons. we will see i should be ordering it sometime this week.

I thought it was 2 1/2". So 2000 is the only year with 2" piping. I know my 98 has 2 1/4 stock.

Yea, Its pretty confusing you think they would state that on their webiste, all they say is that the unti is .25inches larger than stock, so you would think since its listed under 2000+ neons then it would be like that for all of them, not have only the 2000's at 2" and the rest at 2.25" but i ordered the unit today, so they said it should be in by mid-late next week, so once i get it all set up ill let you all know how it fits and if there are any mods that i need to do.

Im also hoping that I dont need to hack into my rear bumper so the tips can stick out, because how the stock exhaust is set up it curves sideways behind the bumper so that you can even really see it so i dont know if ill have to make some custom holes in my bumper for the duals to stick out...ill keep my fingers crossed on that one, but im going to be saving for a kit soon so ill just have to get one that already is set up for dual exhaust. what did you guys with dual exhaust and no bodykit do? how did you get the new tips to stick out? did you have to do some cutting into the bumper??

I was told different at Modern and Howell. I think the guy u talked to didn't know. All 2nd gen Neons have 2" piping (plus all the 2nd gen's pipes look the same size anyway). My grandma's 2001 Neon's pipe look the same as my stock 2000's exhaust (if not smaller). It doesn't make sense if Dodge would go 2" for 1 year and then go back to 2 1/4. The only real way to find out is by the Dodge dealership. I might call Modern Performance or Howell AGAIN if I feel like it. The reason I haven't called AGAIN is because it's not that serious.
