Default Did I install my thermostat correctly?

(This is the rad. thermostat on my 00 Plymouth Neon)

I just want to be sure I got this thing put in correctly. I used a new seal for it as well. I started it up and there doesn't appear to be any leaks.

Basically I stuck it in so that the side that has the extension (as opposed to the other relatively flat slide) is in towards the engine side. Correct or not? I assumed this is the way to put it in since the other way it wouldn't fit into the plastic housing that has the rad cap on it.

dont take long, putting the gasket around the therm. takes longer than bolting it in in my opinion
