Default 03 ATX into a 2000? *Blew my tranny* :(

I guess it's normal for chrysler trannies(Or diffs to be precise) to throw the retaining pin and masacre your tranny. Well that's what happened, It ended up making noises only when I would slow down. I managed to make it to my shop, pulled the diff cover off (which had a hole in it) and found chunks out of the main gear, the retaining pin was chewing the inside of the housing apart there was metal shards all over my tranny and even made it to the bottom pan.

So, My tranny is F'ed, my engine has 185km on it but I happened to find an engine/tranny from a 2003 very close to me(With only 53k km!) I just wanna know if it will swap right in(Tranny only, engine is going to get built since it's missing a head).

Also I wanna use the gauge cluster that has 53k km on it, and a few other minor things.

This engine will be the begining of my turbo 2.2 atx dream. So I just wanna know if everything is pretty much plug and play.

Yeah its plug and play when you get all the parts,

Shifter Assembly
Shift Cables
Shifter Pedals
Master Cylinder
Slave Cylinder
Computer
Passenger Axle
Trans mount
Transmission
Clutch
Bushings

I don't know if the 03 tranny will need the ngc computer but if it does, your going to forking up a lot of money.

You will have to convert your tranny lines to the hydrolic ones and a whole bunch of other goodies.

It will be less of a headache to find a 1st gen or a 2000 mtx because the swap will be easier.

Not sure, didn't 2000's have a 3 speed? I think 2003's came with a 4 speed so if yours is a 3 speed you will need the computer too.

They are both auto's FYI

I'm going to look on allpar to see if the 03 came with the 4th gear. I do know that they are geared different, but that won't bother me. I'd actually rather have it rev less on the highway.

So, they do come with the 4 spd. So I will need a computer, Shift ****/assembly and what else....hrm

This might not be the best idea. But the price is worth it, and if there is a definite way to install the 03 in a 00 I can do it.

I just need to know what I'll need to do it. :O

I don't think you can do it because you would need an 03+ ngc computer for the trans.

I can get the whole car btw...It's not like I'm going to have trouble finding a computer or harness or anything really.

If you can get the whole car for a good deal, I would say go for it. Always nice to have a parts car around.

The 2000-2002 have a 3 speed auto. The 2003-2004 have a 4 speed auto (overdrive). Therefore, you'd need each one's own computer respectively.

no the 2000-2001 have the 3 spd tranny. The 02-05 have the 4 spd tranny. I think the 02 has its own computer just for the tranny
