knocking under load
2002 neon 2.0L 5 speed
I have a knocking that sounds like a rod knock .. but its only under load not at idle. could this possibly be clutch related ? i have driven a couple weeks and it has not gotten worse or better..i have pulled the transmission and oil pan and notice no play in the con rod bearings other then slight side to side . it is rpm and not speed based .. but only under load .

sure its not detonation cuz i had a bad spark plug wire and everytime i turned and gased it hard the car would miss rediculously...start with the simplest of problems then work your way to more complicated things..P.S. i never threw a code when that happend either..odd i know

everything looks fine to me . i just put the transmission back on . wires and plugs are new per previous owner (car is a couple weeks mine now) , but i am going to switch out his champions for some standard ngk's .
