Hey everyone,
I looking into doing a big brake kit to my neon, and have come up with nohting. Seems that the closest i could get is a SRT-4 and PT cruiser kit. Would one of these kits work on a 2001 R/T. I wouldn't think that they would have changed the brake system that much. I'm looking to get the 2001 Pt Crusier kit from SSBC 13" rotors 2- piston calipers. What do you all think???

 

I have never seen one. Its not really that necesary.

 

My car is set up for show, and with my 19" rims the stock brake setup looks way too small... Plus, I am going to turbo charge the engine I feel that a larger brake size would help.

 

I have not seen any big brake kits. if you find any let me know. I don't think it's necessary but you're right will look good.

 

I have a 2001 Neon SE with rear drums (unfortunately) and mid-range performance rotors and pads on the front (fairly new) and after 15 minutes of fast driving on a winding road, braking medium to hard several times, I was left with almost no braking force. The first half of the pedal travel was spongy and the second half rock hard, and all that really slowed me down was the downshifting. What I am trying to say is that a big brake kit would be a good investment.

On a similar note, a rear disc brake assembly from a second gen Neon should be a direct bolt-on for my car right?

You can use the SRT-4 big brake kits, but you'll need to switch over to the SRT front/rear rotors, which to do so you'll need SRT rotors, knuckles, calipers, brackets, flexiable brake line off the SRT and then you'd need to either weld up the hole for the tie rod and drill a new one farther away b/c the stock Neon steering rack is farther away (there isn't enough room to adjust them without drilling new holes in the steering arm for the tie rod end). Another option is to simply machine your stock knuckles to work with SRT-4 parts, I dont really know what all that would included, but you can usually find a complete SRT brake setup for under $200. The big brake kits are lik $1,000, so i guess $200 really shouldnt be an issue if your spending that much more anyways.
