Default SRT ?,.. stage 1? GReddy?

I know this is not the SRT forums, but had a question about an SRT

was off today and notice they just got in last week, a black SRT-4 on my local Dodge used car lot..

nothing to do, so I thought I'd test drive it...
it's pretty slick and fast... black, spoiler delete, has the little "duck-tail" spoiler, fiberglass eyelids, sunroof, LED tails, Pioneer stereo.. extra set of snow tires comes with it...tinted windows...34k miles...they want $13,900.00 fo it

the question is, the lot guy said something about stage 1..do't know if he knows what he is talking about or not.. but it does have some kind of aftermarket GReedy part back by the firewall, and a small electronic GReddy "timer" of some sort mounted under the radio in the little cubby hole... what is that? (sorry, look really well versed in boost equipment...)

greddy turbo timer. keeps the car running after you take the key out for a set amount of time or until it cools to a certain temp. That way you dont get oil caked inside the turbo bearing to keep it from burning oil and smoking. Def a good thing to have if you plan on racing

Basically, if it's an 03, it was upgraded to a stage 1 (computer). If it is an 04, it is a stage 1 from the get-go.

thanx for the info!... I'm learning...

it's an 04, so I guess it is already stage 1... maybe he just added the GReddy timer
everything else under the hood looked stock to me, including the intake and air cleaner, and that's usually an easy and inexpensive add on

another funny thing was, after the test drive, I couldn't get the key out!... I've got an 04 SE.... but I guess the 04 SRT has a some kind of extra button u have to push to remove the key...

yea, my SE is an ATX...

must be like a reminder to either leave the car in gear or set the parking brake...

cuz on the ATX you have to have it in park to get the key out

No SRT-4's came with Stage 1's stock, it's a PCM upgrade. 2004-2005 SRT-4s came with Stage 1 injectors (which are bigger than 2003 models), but not PCM's.

So if you bought that car it would have an upgraded mopar PCM
