I have a 2000 neon and about a week ago it started making a grinding noise. I though it was a seized caliper (sounds like that kind of grinding). Today when I put the car in reverse without moving the car was making the grinding noise. When I put it in neutral the grinding stops. When I drive the grinding is present but gets quieter as the car warms up. Now I think I have a transmission problem.

Anyone have this and what can I do?

 

Sounds like maybe a clutch or syncro problem in the transmission. F these transmissions...

Uh huh, there are clutch packs in an auto, not too sure about the syncro though thinking about it...
