Default Low backpressure / Minimum sound

This is sort of a follow up to the Moroso muffler thread (where it was pointed out that it would be quite loud).

Initially I was thinking of using an R/T cat-back or something comparable (they sound GREAT to me), but I'd kinda prefer larger pipe than the 2.25", since i'm trying to get the absolute most out of a NA setup. SRT cat-back is another option, but i've heard that it is pretty loud...

So i was thinking to put a 2.5" exhaust on my neon, all the way from header to tailpipe (with a high flow 2.5" cat) without any significant bottlenecks. single or twin tailpipes doesn't matter to me, single seems to offer the straightest path, but dual might allow for sound deadening with less backpressure. I was thinking of buying the header, cat, and whatever sound deadening components, and having the pipes locally fabricated. But I'm not dead set on having local piping, it just seemed cheap & simple. And a good prefabbed stainless setup would be nice & weather resistant.

Despite wanting great flow, I want to keep the sound down to a reasonable level. I'm not a fan of an excessively loud exhaust. Not on a daily driver anyway. A nice growl when i stand on it is fine, even fun, but i don't want something that'd going to be loud on the highway. so, quiet up to 3k rpms or so, is quiet enough for me.

So, I'm leaving this thread more open ended: mufflers, glass packs, resonators, complete cat-backs, 1 outlet, twin outlets...

What's the absolute strongest flow that is not too loud (at least below 3k rpm)?

(and yeah i know its a kinda 'have your cake & eat it too' question )

just for starters, what about this:

with a resonator added to each outlet pipe?

Makes the car sound like a dirtbike to me and that is quite pricey too!

You could modify a vibrant rear section to accept the 2.5in Daimeter piping, they don't drone on the highway and they aren't loud and raspy like srt rear sections.
