Performed a tune-up today...
yea i wonder what the best filter for our cars is.the only reason i went with fram is because im changing my oil again in a few weeks.i just want to get most of the winter sludge out before spring,
There are tons of tests out there. Mopar filters can be just repainted and restamped Frams? http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilters.html
I know a lot of Die-Hard Dodge guys wouldn't go for it, but you could get the Motorcraft equiv. They are great filters. I'm running the SuperTech filter right now, though after this last oil change, I may be switching provided I see the same thing in the oil again. If I do, I will be switching to the Motorcraft equiv. most likely as they are not expensive but good filters.

While spending a good two hours this morning researching oils and filters for my Roush (switching from Royal Purple now that I almost out of warranty. Used them because they are API certified.), I have now considered, for the Neon, of going with an Amsoil EAO Filter and their Signature Series 0W30 oil. 25,000 mile change intervals. Granted the oil is $10/qt and the filter is $15, but how long it will last will more than pay for it. Even if I went 5,000 miles between changes right now, I'm looking at two or three changes in ~6 months depending. The MaxLife is ~$17 for the 5qt. jug plus another ~$5 for the filter. So, for 25,000 miles that would be ~$110 whereas the Amsoil would cost $55. Half the price. Just a thought for now as I just changed the oil...
I've been using Castrol oil and Fram filters on my Shadow for 22 years, Ram for 15 years and Neon for 10 years at 3000 Mile or 6 month intervals and have never had to do anything other than scheduled maintenance on any of them. Except for an oil pressure sensor on the Neon and a coolant sensor on the Shadow. The Shadow is a Turbo 1 (non intercooled), has 172K on the odometer (which quit working about 7 years ago) and both of my sons started driving in it. I think thats a pretty good testament to not only Castrol and Fram, but Dodge's in general if you maintain them properly.
