Default Timing Marks for 2000 Dodge Neon

does anyone know the timing marks for a 2000 Dodge Neon? Its a single not double. My car doesn't start with the cam sensor plugged in. So im trying to see if the timing is off on the cam sprocket. thanks in advance.

your cam sprocket has a line cut into it, just like a small cut in between the teeth.. that should be pointing straight up and on the back part of your timing cover will have a mark too, they should line up... this should be top dead center, if all your valves are closed when these marks are in line, then your top end is in time, but that doesnt mean your bottom end hasnt slipped, and in order to check that you have to take your crank pulley off and the timing cover..

On your crank theres an arrow and it will point to another arrow showin its in time. An easier way to check tho, is to easily put a long screwdriver in cylinder one *dont shove it down in there... that would be stupid* and turn your crank until the piston is all the way to the top, then check your cam marks.

I think its cylinder 1... can anyone confirm this?

thanks for your feedback! I appreciate. I got my car running smoothly now. The pin was broken so I had to replace it. Thats why it wasn't starting with the cam sensor plugged.
