hey there i have a 04 Neon with 36,886 miles on it. I've owned it since new and i love this car. i put a 60mm throttle body, CAI, 2.5 inch full magnaflow exhaust, header, cat delete pipe. i was wondering if those performance upgrades would be the reason i blew 2 head gaskets in 36,000 miles. the first gasket blew when i had 20,000 miles on it. I just hate when this crap happens, especially when my warranty expired for the second gasket. I guess it's a good thing i work at a body shop. I guess i just want to know how the gaskets keep blowing and how to prevent it. i would appreciate it very much.

thats very weird that you've had this happen. I would guess the first one was a defect and the second one was put on wrong or not torqued down right but maybe another defect. 2gns don't have headgasket problems like the 1gen neons do.

 

You need to have the head and block checked for square (runout) and then torque down properly. Sounds like something warped. It should still be under 7/70 (Power adders might give you crap though)

 

Yeah the head sounds to be warped... that is what i would say, when u or the dealership does the job again make sure they have it checked....
