I have an SRT rear section on my SXT, took away a noticeable amount of my torque. It is waaaaay too loud, so I went to a muffler shop and got a resonator installed. drove off paying the guy 90 bucks total. Still sounds mean, but legal.

I'm about to get the SRT exhaust installed on my 2000 Neon. I have the whole cat-back, but will it all bolt up or just the axle-back? If it all bolts up, would the two resonators make it legal (and have enough back-pressure)? If not, I have a 25" Cherry Bomb I thought about putting in place of the resonators. Would that make it legal and provide enough back-pressure?

First I need to know if the whole thing fits or just the rear section.

Thanks in advance.

Yup, the whole thing fit right up. Had to replace the resonators with the CherryBomb or the guy who installed it for me (and used to have a Neon) said it would be way too loud and sound bad.

I like the sound now. Super loud and aggressive sounding (already turning some heads - haha probably people saying what an ******* I am for having such a loud Piece of ****[their opinion, not mine]).

Luckily, cops don't seem to care too much about anything like that around here. If your tint is too dark, well ok. If your music is too loud, that's fine. If your car is too loud, who cares - but I still put it in neutral or upshift whenever I pass the coppers, just in case.

heys guys, i as reading your forum about the srt rear section exhaust. i want to buy an srt4 rear section for my 04 neon SE. i have full 2.5" magnaflow exhaust w/dual chrome tips out the back. Recently i have been wanting something louder and something with more of a backfire noise. dont get me wrong, i love my exhaust, but i've had it for 3 years now and it's getting old. just wondering if it will fit up to my existing exhaust and if it's a good idea. thanks.

the reason you have less torque is due to no back pressure, seriously this is about the 3rd post I have been on, n/a cars need back pressure, I dont mean to sound like a gerk, but any of you looking to put on the srt-4 rear section, have you done research on it?? A free flowing system, even with a resonator does not go good on n/a cars, the only reason turbo cars come with such a system is because the turbo creates its own back pressure and needs the free flow of a straight through system. I have had both on my sxt when I had it, a muffler gives you better performance, and you wont loose any torque. If you want louder then a magnaflow muffler I had a 2 chamber flowmaster dual exit and it sounded great, and if you add a resonator it will deepin the tone but still be louder then the magna, I would recommend a dynomaxx bullet to go with it, I have one on my SRT and love the sound. If you want to have your own experience, try the straight through system, then take off the rear part and install a muffler, you'll feel the difference. Again Im not saying this to be a gerk just giving info from what I have done, my sxt had a full 2.5" system with the flowmaster, Injen cai, Jet stage 2 chip, magnacore wires, NGK plugs, and a OBX header. It sounded good and ran good.
