That is a very true statement, though not the case in my situation. One of the kills was a friend of mine with a bone stock '05 SRT-4 ACR. After i beat him i asked him to take out the cobra. He had a '95 (one of the slowest made - will get beat by a 4.6l GT) with headers, full exhaust w/ X pipe, CAI and Ford aluminum driveshaft.
He wouldn't take it out. he said he didn't want to get beat by a neon again. His stock SRT-4 was faster than his lightly modded cobra though.

As for the 4.6 beating it, the newer 4.6 mod engine has more power than that engine did (i.e.- when they switched to the first gen 4.6 in '96, power immediately went up ~65HP, for the Cobra's. The later 4.6 engines do have more HP than the '95 Cobra as well though).

I was running stock internals and stock ECU. Planned to go bigger but realized modding a FWD is really a waste of money. Some will disagree, but thats my opinion.
PS, glad to see there is another (well not yet) quick neon here. Hopefully you are not covered in stickers or flip flop ****.

i ran a 13.89 in the quarter two years ago, hoping to mid mid 13s this year, and next year i want to be in the low 12s or maybe 11s, we will see however... i am also still running stock bottom end, and yeah i will agree it will be a waste of time doing all this work to a fwd, but it is fun, the next project i am thinking going old school resto mod..... but we will see i guess... lol
