Default Melted Multifunction Switch Plug

My son's 2001 Neon started having problems with low beam headlights and fog lights...wouldn't come on. Hi beam, emerg flashers and turnsignals worked fine. We removed the multifunction switch tonight and found that the plug had heated at some point, mostly at pin position #B-16. Tested the multifunction switch and found that indeed the number B-16 pin would not test correctly unless downward pressure was put on it. Anybody have any experience with this problem? Replacing the multifunction switch is not a problem, but if the cause is someting else I'd like to obviously fix it before having another switch go bad. Hopefully the plug to the multifunction switch isn't too far gone and won't need replacing....lots of wires and no room... Thanks for any info. Dave

I am not sure what you mean by malfunction switch, but if its melted, something melted it. You could replace the switch and have it do it all over again.

It is the MULTIfunction switch (controls the turnsignals, lights, wipers/washer) not the MALfunction switch....

oh, ok. I would check for broken wires and shorts and replace the switch.
