Default oil pump

Hi all,
I was just wondering if its a pain the the butt to change the oil pump. Is it a matter of dropping the oil pan, then having access to the pump. I want to put a high volume pump in there. There is nothing wrong with the one I have, but the lifters tick and my friend told me a high volume pump would send more oil up to the top end. Do you think its worth it to change the pump? I have 195k on the car so its the stock one from the factory.

removal: Disconnect battery ground, remove timing belt, remove oil pan, remove crankshaft sprocket, remove oil pick up tube, remove oil pump and discard front cover seal.
Install: Prime pump by filling rotor cavity with clean engine oil, install O ring into centerbore on oil pump discharge passage, ensure crankshaft oil seal is out of oil pump, install oil pump slowly onto crankshaft until seated to engine block, tighten bolts to 21 ft lbs., install new front cover oil seal, then to finish just reverse removal.

Goodluck.

everything I've read over the last couple years on Neon boards have said that ALL Neons tick, at certain times...

who said this was a cure?... and is it really the cure?

just didn't want you to go thru all the trouble for nothing....

Be interesting to see if this is the cure as the manual says it is "spark knock."

Thanks for your replies, my mechanic friend suggested it to me. I think I will leave it alone though, just wanted some input on the matter. The car runs fine, so I guess its better not to mess with something that is doing alright...
