Engine coolant
Hi,
I just bought a 1 gallon antifreeze/engine coolant for my Dodge Neon SXT. It's a PEAK Global Life Time. Can I use this kind of coolant? On the label, it says : Chrysler MS7170 and Chrysler MS9769 or should I use the one that has the Dex-Cool specs?
Thanks for your help.

Make sure you use the search button
that is your overflow bottle. if it is low does not necessarily mean the coolant is low. and Chrysler uses their own special formula of coolant, which is actually a hybrid, that is cross between ethylene glycol based coolant(green) and the organic acid technology (orange) coolant, commonly known by the brand name Dex-cool. It is identifiable by it's distinct red color. Some may confuse this with the orange Dex-cool, but it is not the same thing, and should not be mixed. In other words Chrysler coolant is unique, and you should only use coolant specifically made for Chrysler vehicles.
I agree with darthroush, Dex-Cool is crap! It was pushed out on the market before it was fully developed because the guy making it died. Leaves your cooling system with muddy gunk all over... No good.
Peak is great! Flushed two vehicles I use and it's still original color and nowhere near becoming acidic.

Plus, IDK if anyone of you have ever heard of it, but the GM vehicles with the 3.8 engines and such with the plastic intakes, have developed leaks because Dex-Cool will actually eat at the plastic and the gaskets in the engine. People in the know usually change their coolant to the G05 immediately.
