i just baught a Universal K&N filter for my 04 sxt, if i romp it to about 4000rpms i hear a crackling sound from the muffler(not the motor) life if its trying to force to much exhuast out. would i need a performance exhaust just to handle the new filter?

 

It shouldn't be popping that much with the stock exhaust. Mine didn't at least. Mine has quite a rumble now that I have a 2.5" dual catback when I decelerate.

 

A filter by itself doesn't do that much. Your stock exhaust should be fine unless u want to upgrade and want more hp. The filter only gives u few more hp (a new exhaust isn't necessary).

 

well i have a stock exhaust on my neon and when i take off it sounds like i have rocks in the exhaust anyone know y?

 

Could be a bad cat. A bad cat will make a noise, but it will be more towards the middle of the car.

 

ehh im not sure where its coming from i can hear it from the inside i thought maybe something was in my muffler but neonsxt04 told me it may be something popped loose raddling?

 

could be that too. Have someone in the car on the gas and move around the outside ot the car and look.
