Default Huge Water Problem

2nd time this has happened. First time I thought I had went through some big puddles too fast but now I've been on vacation for a week and the same problem is back. Basically there is standing water in my spare tire well of my trunk. I'm pretty sure its coming up from the bottom somehow (no idea how) because the actual trunk is bone dry the carpet or top of the trunk is not damp, wet , nothing. Also I pulled up the back seat and the first time it was really wet and this time it is damp.

Any ideas on where this water is coming from? I'm in college so I can't just rip apart my interior and leave it like that for a week at a time. Or else I'd do it and stick it in the rain and watch it.

Your trunk seals are probably leaking. try replacing the weatherstripping.

I had a TON of water enough to fill a shop vac. I replaced my tail light gaskets and BOOOOOM good as new. Might just be a $20 fix. Get yourself new tail ligh gaskets first. See what happens. If not then I would go to the trunk seal it self. Around $80 from Dodge brand new cheaper im sure if you go to local junkyard.

When you had all the water was your trunk wet or just the spare tire well? Thats the thing that really confuses me. But I'll replace the tail light gasket and see what happens.

Update:
Today I took out my trunk carpet. Huge pain in the ***, its sitting in my dorm room taking up the whole damn floor. But I found that its definately coming from underneath the car. I'll take a picture later but there is a line of sand that rings the left side of the spare tire well and standing water underneath a black vent looking thing on the far left side of the trunk. So my new hypothesis is that the water is coming up from the tire spray. Any new ideas on how to fix this? Is there some type of sealant I can buy and put all over that side of the trunk?

Its also definately not my seals checked them and they're all in pretty good condition and tight.

Just get some silicone sealant. I got a tube from Home Depot (GE brand) for around $5. The one I have says window and door sealant.

Alright, I'll look into that. Next time it rains, which thankfully is everyday in Miami I'm gonna go sit in the car and watch with a flashlight and see if any water is coming in or maybe take it to a car wash and see what happens. Then hopefully a little bit of sealant will take care of it.

Oh, that black vent? Yeah, if that is out of place, that could do it too.
