2003 SX 2.0 Help and Please tell me I just didn't make a huge mistake
There is actually a list online somewhere with Chrysler approved fluids. The best deal I found was NAPA ATF+4. Relabled Valvoline cheaper than any other. It must be a +4 fluid though.
Thanks again, I'll get +4.. Light came back on last night
.. darnit. I also was checking fluids this am and there seems to be a bit of a film in the Antifreeze, just by the rad cap on the neck, Any clue what would cause this? Owner did tell me that he had very recently changed the rad..
I just unhooked the battery for 10 mins and reconnected, anything else to check or do?

Hi, Just had the car checked, code P0441.. I've seen in some other posts that it's likely an emissions problem but beyond that there were many, many different possible causes. What do you suggest as a starting point or points?

Would the film happened to be darkish color?, if so, stop driving the car immediately and change the coolant and transmission fluid.
Check the fluid carefully for signs of antifreeze mixing with it, at work describe it as a strawberry milkshake. When this happens, wich is quite often, the radiator splits internally mixing antifreeze with the trani fluid causing shifting problems.
Hi, Nope, it's a very light colored film, almost Tan.. it was right at the cap.. rad was recently changed and after i wiped it down, i don't see any more of it but as for the tranny fluid, there is no sign whatsoever of any type of contamination..
Could just be lubricants used when the new radiator was manufactured mixing in with the coolant. I seem to recall this happening many years ago after replacing a radiator. Didn't hurt a thing. Get a new gas cap yet?
