I have a 2000 5spd that is bad. I was wondering if a 96,97,98,99 will fit this besides the 2000? I just thought that it might if the engines will work. If somebody could help that would be great. Thank You.

 

a 1gn tranny will work if you swap the bell housing on the manual. A manual from a 00-05 neon will work but if you go with a 1gn it has 3.94 gear ratio where i believe the normal 5 speed neon has 3.55 and the r/t 2gn neons also have 3.94 so if your looking for acceleration go with the r/t or 1gn manual you'll just have to use your bell housing if you go with a 1gn. I could be wrong though. Don't know too much about the 1gns.
