I just bought a 2005 neon, low miles and LOOKS well taken care of.

I know they are not the most "reliable" car, but i have a few mechanics that can give me a little bit of a deal, but my main question is....

How would you rate the neon overall?

I have read horror stories and know people who love them! I am a little uneasy about my car and dont want it to be a money hole but seems like a very fun car to have!

opinions/advice about they feelings twards neons, and more specifically their reliability

 

Just remember it doesn't have a V/8 in it so don't try to drive it like it does. A lot of problems are caused by abuse and lack of maintenance.

 

Agreed mostly on mine i've only had to replace normal stuff like control arm bushings, wheel bearings, outer tie rod, and timing belt. I had to just replace the head on mine because i do kinda drive it hard but the car has 140,000 miles on it and for just replacing there normal stuff that goes bad on every car i say it's great. I've owned worse, i had a 88 dodge dynasty with 110,000 miles for one year in that year i went through a transmisson, timing belt, ball joints, head gasket, half shaft, shocks, springs, and ummm 10 sets of tires . This neon has been in my family for 6 years and it had 30,000 when we bought it and for only replacing the above for it i say it was a very reliable car and the only reason the head had to be replaced is i beat it but not as hard as i beat the dynasty.

 

Sweet, thanks for the quick replies! I thought this wasn't too active of a forums :P but I don't drive the car too crazy, this is my second car. First was a 97. Corolla which I rolled :/ so now I am more carful, but like the way the neon drives! This car will be well watched over and let's hope for the best and hope it holds together!! (:
