Question 2.4DOHC swap into my 05 sxt auto...what do i need to make it happen?

i have a 05 neon autoits a sohc. it is all stock right know. i can get a 2.4dohc complete with heads and wiring and everything for 135 dollers at a junk yard.i was planing on rebuilding the 2.4 when i get it and get it ready to go in and when the head gasket goes at 100000 mile i will do the swap. is this an easy job or am i just doing alot of work for nothing? whats the power differance between the to engines? will i get better gas milage? will tranny take the power? will the electrical (coil, cam sinsor, ect.) hook up the the neon. i will prob be getting the 2.4 out of a 97 status or something like that. thanks for the help. Josh

not really sure if you can go backwards...i dont think you can put a 97 engine in a 2003...only DOHC worth putting in your car is a srt...i know first gens do the 2.4 stratus swap..not sure about 2nd gen

from what i read.it looks like you want to use the 2.4 head and keep the auto tranny am i rite ? well from what ive read on another forum i know that doing that can be painfull and as for power gains well i dont think its much. it would be easier and better to just swap the engines out for the complete 2.4 srt-4 engine. or in ur case its all stock so why not just sell the car and buy a srt-4.
