Also, there are 3 1/2" tweeters in the front plastic grills in the dash?? what are the wire color for those? or are they not in there stock? i didnt think about those, but dont think i hear sound from them..

Take the HVAC panel off (remove the two air vent flow director things and the 2 screws in the air vents up top, and the four HVAC *****), then undo the four screws holding the HU in. Make sure you have the installation kit to hold the aftermarket stereo and an antenna adapter.

Okay, there was an older alpine, so lets hope there is an antenna adapter in there!!!!

and what about the tweeters?

I think the tweeters use the same wires as the front door speakers. not sure, but if they do, they have there own bass reducers in line to them. can't remember for sure as i don't own a neon anymore. and to get to the tweeters you will have to remove the dash panel. 4 screws and the panel comes out. one on each side of the panels by the doors, and two right in the middle by the defrost vent. hope this helps. someone else chime in if i missed something or am wrong about something.

and how hard is it to remove the air vents? i dont want to break those off :/

spin them down and then pull one side out and then the other, i am a novice and managed it no problem :-)

tomorrow is the day!!! wish me luck!! i got everything i need.. i have some stuff to splice the cords, but might get some heat shrink take to make it a little cleaner, but have everything ;D

Worth it IMO to have the real deal tools and not one of the cheapo all-in-one's. Either way, good luck with it! Not too hard to do...
