Manual transmission swap
Alright, I have a 2004 Neon SE model with an automatic transmission. I want to swap it out for a manual transmission, but I cannot find any locally, or in any nearby neighboring cities. I know I can find them on other sites, but I'd prefer to be able to go look at the transmission myself on a weekend or something, so I'm wondering what other transmissions will fit the Neon easily enough, and what I'd need for the swap, itself.
There were probably other vehicles that used the same transmission. I'd look for those too, if you haven't. I wouldn't think any others would work without major modification to something.
Here is a list of cars that have a 5 speed transmission that will bolt up to your neon:
94-99 neon manual transmission: swap the bell housing from the cable to the hydraulic
96-99 chrysler sebring, dodge avenger, non turbo dodge talon, non turbo mitsubishi eclipse
(NOTE: these vehicle have the same gear set used in the 1G neon r/t, which is geared for racing and not highway driving)
No bell housing swap needed for these cars
All PT cruiser 5speed transmissions will swap directly into a 2G neon

Thanks. That'll make the swap a whole lot easier. There are Eclipses and PT Cruisers galore around here. Also, aside from the clutch assembly, master/slave cylinders, and flywheel, what else will I need?
mtx Passenger side axle
2G shifter cables ONLY - 1G shifter cables are too short
5sp shifter and 2G boot
MTX pcm if you want wider range of engine control
Throw out bearing
You will have to wire in the reverse plug sensor. Pig tail required.
All I can think of right now.
