Question Oil in the intake manafold??

I was recently working on a water leak and had to remove the intake on my 01 Neon, there was some oil in it?? I fixed my leak and put it all back together and the car runs fine, if you don't count the vibration at idle (middle motor mount needs replacing) or the ticking noise from the front wheel, or the other creeking noises from the front end plus the sqeeling brakes.

What would cause oil to end up in the intake? How would I fix it? I am now smelling oil after the car warms up.

Thanks

PCV valve placement error. Fix: install a catch can.

You wouldn't know where I could get some kind of step by step, or even just a pic or two?

Thanks

Hmmm. Not sure where pics are located, but I'm sure someone else knows where they are. You basically buy an air compressor filter/separator, remove the filter and use the jar as the catch can. They cost like $10 and can usually be found at Lowe's, Home Depot or the like. Then, simply install it in-line of the PCV valve and intake. Any oil traveling through will now be caught in the separator, and not your intake. If you'd like, I can try and look up the model number for the Campbell-Hausfeld(?) one. Nothing super fancy, but cheap and it works.

Install is easy. Just buy some extra hose that is oil resistant. Attach one end to the PCV valve, to the catch can, then from there to where the hose goes now. Where you want to put it will dictate how much hose you need. Most just run it straight to the intake and some wrap it all the way around the engine bay so it looks "nicer" with the catch can out of the way. All up to you.

Thanks I'm pretty sure I can do it, but if you happen to find some pics that would be great.
