Default 2002 Neon squeaking noise from rear left upper strut

OK, has anyone else had this annoying problem... Whenever I steer to the right, the left rear strut upper mount area behind the rear seat starts to squeak loud enough to be a nuisance !! I have tightened up on the 3 nuts up there but that has not fixed the problem.... How tight are they supposed to be ?? Are there bushings or rubber washers that someone left off when they installed these that I should be looking for ?? Any ideas would be appreciated .....

Could be a bad top-hat or bushing. I don't know the specifics about diagnosing struts, but those are two things that can cause noises.

I had a similar problem with my 2004 sxt, I had a annoying rattling noise coming from the tops of my struts in the front, I had my car inspected and found out the sound was coming from really the bad tie rod ends. I had them replaced and it cured the problem. If I were you i would go check if you can wiggle yours around, if they do I would replace them

Hopefully this helps...

I had a similar problem, but mine started an annoying squeak ALL THE TIME. would squeak constantly over the tinyest little bumps, not just when I turned.

But you said you already looked at the mount?, mine was actually worn out rear strut mounts, and 1 was actually broken.... had both of them replaced...no more squeaking

Same, same. Lt rear strut mount broken. Replaced lt & rt mounts and struts. That is one annoying squeak. I replaced the struts while I was in there, tested them, they were weak.

My 05 is doing something similar, except I think it's related to my steering column. Everytime I turn left it creaks like mad, and especially when its cold.

Creaking while turning is usually tie rod ends.
