Default What is this thing on right side of engine where oil is leaking?

If your looking at the engine with the hood open and you go to your right on the side of the engine is a wire that is plugged into this square thing that is bolted on to the side of the engine right under the valve cover.

The thing has oil all around it and oil leaks from engine here. I don't think it is coming from the valve cover because oil is not flowing around the valve cover seal on the front or back of engine so I believe it is below the valve cover at this square thing.

If I'm understanding you correctly I think your talking about the camshaft sensor a photo would be helpful.

Sounds like it. There is a seal behind it that would have to be replaced.

is there anything else besides this that could be leaking in this spot. I believe this is it though because there seems to be a lot of oil coming from this spot. Has anyone done this CMP sensor replacement before and do you have any tips? Thanks
