some help with remote
I recently purchased an 05 neon SXT and had to have a key made. It works fine. I tried programming a remote but couldn't. Is there a way to know if a remote will even work on my car? Thanks
I myself recently purchased an '05 SXT, mine came with 2 remotes, but i did notice programming instructions for the keys and remotes in the owners manual. that being said, i'm not 100% sure that remote keyless was a "standard" feature, or an option, as part of a package or some such. you can find keys and remotes all over ebay for well under $20, shipping included. most of the sellers will give you programing instructions, but as i said, i found them in my owners manual.
what i am looking for now, is either a an android app that would mimic the signals my remote sends out, or a way to fit the circuitry from one of my remotes in to the body of one of the Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver toys......
does it make me that big of a nerd if i want to use a sonic to get into my car?

OK first off to program a fob or a key to your car here is what you have to do or make sure. To program a chip key your self you have to have *2* already functioning keys and you can program a 3rd, 4th and so on.... For the (fob) remote you need one functioning and you can program the rest
IF you have to go to the dealer its still fine NOT EXPENSIVE FOR PROGRAMING
14$ at most for chip key on ebay free-20$ fobs Auto salvage=Free Ebay=$
If you need dealler programing take keys and fobs in at once and they charge 30 min labor
I went to my dealer 6 fobs and 2 keys later it cost me 40$
I also have some fobs forsale cheap. Let me know if this helps
Try not to buy parts, keys, fobs, ect.... From the dealer you pay 40% more
ATTENTION: You MUST HAVE one working remote to add one more to the system. If you do not have one working remote right now then these instructions will not work. You will have to have a Locksmith or dealership use a computer to program the first remote for you.
1. Turn ignition to run position (as far as you can go without starting engine).
2. Using any Working remote, press the UNLOCK button for 4 to 10 seconds.
3. Within the specified 4 to 10 seconds, continue pressing the UNLOCK buton and press
the PANIC button for 1 second and release both buttons at the same time. A chime will
sound within 3 seconds to indicate that the vehicle has entered remote programming
mode.
4. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press any button on all remotes to be programmed
including previously programmed remotes. A chime will sound after each remote is
programmed.
5. Turn ignition to OFF and remove key.
6. Test all remotes.
