Looking @ an '04 SXT - Chattering Noise + Other Questions
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum, but I just wanted to get a some help from someone more in the know than myself...
I test drove an '04 SXT today. The car has ~94k miles and is a 5spd. It seems to be in great shape, but I did notice one thing today. Whenever the car was on decel there was what I'd almost call a slight chirping noise/squeeling. Additionally, whenever the car was in a higher gear below 2000rpms and I went into fairly heavy load the car/trans would make a chattering sort of noise and that chirping/squeeling would also occur. Right around 2000rpms it all seemed to disappear. Any ideas?
Additionally, any usually troublesome spots I should check or anything of that nature? I'm very serious about buying this car and only have until probably this weekend to decide, so any insights would be greatly appreciated
I do know the timing belt needs done ASAP - any idea roughly how much that costs to do? I've done a VW 1.8T t-belt before, so I would probably give this a go by myself, so most likely just parts and maybe some beers haha.
Thanks everyone! I'm loving reading about Magnum heads and cams, etc... I hope everything works out and I can get into it!
