Question P0441 EVAP code. 03 Neon. Help Please!

Things my car is doing--
When I first start my car, More likely when its colder outside, It makes a screeching noise for a minute & Then stops (Not sure if this has to do with what the real problem is)
I'v put belt dressing on the belt, Not too much & Not too little, Didn't help.
My car is acting as though it wants to stall out. When I come to stops it does a quick jerk, Stops, Does it again but doesn't do it when I drive.
When I accelerate to higher speed it struggles to go then it takes off.
(Acts as though its not getting gas well)
Another thing I'v noticed is my gas mileage isn't as good as it was before.

Now for the code--P0441 EVAP
1. Defective or loose fuel cap (Got a new one, Didn't help)
2. EVAP canister or hose cracked-not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4. Vacum leak at engine

What are some things I can look for on my own to figure out what the problem is? I don't really have the money to pay a mechanic to figure out the problem, If I can find out what it is then I can pay someone to do the work. Any suggestions? Please!! I don't want to be broke down somewhere, Lol.

Look undeneathe the back of your car. You will see a small black box with vaccum lines on it. one of the lines will most likely be cracked or broke. a very common prob on neons.

when you look underneathe u can miss it its in the open

my neon was doing the same thing yours is the belt squeels, and booging and lack of acceleration. I ran a whole bottle of marvel mystery oil threw my fuel tank and then changed my plugs. all together it cost me about 8$ just change the plugs it will make a huge difference in performance and most likely your plug wires are original. Change them. Even if a wire tests good it can still be faulty and cause resistance
