I know that, but 2002 and earlier didn't have NGC. That was my point either way. They don't do crap. It's a 4 cylinder. You want power, buy a V8.

some v6s do nicely with chips and are fastdo not always have to get a v8 to have fast ride. I know alot of fast 4cylinders like any srt4 neon or caliber and evo and sti that you can get and not chip . Guess what Im trying to say with chips they work in some cars and trucks and others they are crap.

The reason why SOME 4 cylinders are quick is simple: volumetric efficiency. The turbocharged MIVEC I4 in my brother's Evo X lauches that car into space. The Vortec V6 in my 98 Blazer is nice; it's got quite a bit of pick up for a light SUV. And the V8 in my friends new 2010 F-150 has a ton of pick up.

The EVO has the full effect of each cylinder pushing it(because the PCM has been configured). However the V6 and the V8 uses each cylinder, but without proper "chipping" you wont see a huge increase in the performance.

my 2 cents. haha

I can't say it was unexpected, lol
It's just some people think they can buy a chip or an intake for their 4 cyl (the cheapest mod possible, which I also know was NOT the point of the OPs post), and their car is going to launch them into space.

Actually a intake is a great engine mod to have more so than a chip. I have a intake in my sxt but would never put a chip in her.

An intake isn't bad, but vs. a chip/programmer that actually works? No...
