its my moms car just your basic 01 neon 2.0, it is having problems starting, it has a new battery, i put a new starter in it and it will not start at all.

when you turn the key on everything comes on but when you turn the key to start it you hear the all the relays kicking the there is a low clicking noise but the starter still wont do anything, i jumped started my moms car and it started up once but would not do it again. i put in a another new battery just to make sure and still the same problem.

i read somewere on autozone website something about a auto shutoff relay?

does anyone have any ideas. also i am looking for the layout of the fusebod under the hood because hers is missing i was going to replace the starter relay but im not sure which one it is.

a bad alternator would not stop it from starting would it?

 

an alternator wont stop the car from starting it just keeps it running but all the relays under the hood are the same so start pulling and changing them around and you can get the chiltons book at autozone for twenty bucks start there and try it make sure the ground on the starter has a good connection

 

Are you sure that the starter is even getting enough power, or a good ground?

 

all the relays were good, and the starter had all good conections, it was a bad new terminal? so i replaced them and it works just fine now. thanks all
