I have a 2005 Dodge Neon sxt. I was driving it yesterday and all of a sudden my check engine light came on and the rpms started going crazy. I took my foot off the accelerator and the engine was still revving. Then my car shut off. I replaced the throttle body sensor thinking it was that but when you start my car the engine just revs and the rpms redline. Does anyone have any idea of what is my problem?

I think thats the map sensor code. You can get one pretty reasonable at autozone.

 

It could be a vacuum leak, MAP sensor, TP sensor or the wiring for the two sensors.

 

Thanks for the help. We finally figured it out here the air intake hose had a huge slice in it.

 

THats was a cheap fix glad you found out and it wasnt a sensor.
