I was on my way to work one day, had just gotten off the highway and into a left hand turn lane. The car inf ront of me went to move forward, so I started to do the same. Instead of moving forward however I rolled backwards. Thinking the engine had just stopped, I turned the car off and went to turn it back on and it wouldn't start. There was no loud noises in the car nothing out of the usual. It was a quick clean cut off.

The fuel pump wasn't priming when I got it home, so I changed that. The fuel pump primes now, but the problem persists.

It shoots a P0340 code. I have changed the CMP sensor, and when I did, the connector had oil in it. All the fuses are fine, relays as well. The battery works (well did, but died after trying to start it enough times.)

Any thoughts or idea's on what this could be? Thanks in advance for any help.

 

Maybe the starter or alternator going bad or belt loose or broke.
