anything can cause problems even unrelated systems.

the bad part is if you don't have the right tools, you end up grasping at straws and throwing guesses at the problem. The bad part of today's vehicles is the level of sophistication, problem solving skills, equipment and knowledge required.

a scanner is crucial to quickly and effectively diagnose an electrical problem such as yours

you say the connector isn't the problem, but I know how tricky the clip is on the connector and you never know that a slight tug could cause a circuit problem however this statement is purely guess and speculation. which I hope is as good a guess as anyone else throws out there

thank you both for your help.

I just noticed that the odometer has been on the same mileage for the last day.

Also, my gas gauge will sometimes trigger my gas light and then the meter will go back to above 1/4 tank

Cluster? I am not used to that term
Is that defined as BCM? Instrument Panel? Wire harness to the tranny?

Just an update.

I decided to change the input shaft speed sensor. The part is less than $20 and it wouldnt hurt. No big improvement, although I seem to be limited to 3rd gear now instead of 2nd. However, I just checked my codes again and I am getting P0501...which is also related to the speed sensor.

What is the difference between P0720 and P501?

Ok, finally gave up and took it to the dealer.

It was the wire harness from engine to the solenoid. $215.00 parts and labor. Not bad considering the other possibilities of what it could be. Problem fixed. Running smooth

T480-
My car is doin same thing. I replaced input and output sensors. My rpms dont move at all and sometimes my fuel gauge does move but very little. Im stuck in 2nd gear. I replaced Tranny shift solenoid and still have broken car. I did key dance and got one code for battery being disconnected. I guess my next step is to get a OBD2 scanner and scan the car.

Could you give me more details on the part that the dealer replaced for your car. I think i might have the same issue. Thanks
