Hm. What years is your kit supposed to fit? I know to get a better tensioner, you should be able to use a 2004 one. Might look into that. I wouldn't reuse it.
That's really interesting. Maybe give Gates a call real quick and see what they say? Maybe give them the part number too. I got a Gates kit as well and mine was perfect.
