Longer Wheel Studs for a 2000 Neon
I would love to get a set of SRT4 Rims on my 2000 Dodge Neon.
I test fit stock SRT-4 17" rims w/205x50's and found that they rubbed on both the front and back. I thought about 215x45's, but the wheels already have brand new rubber.
So I bought 8mm Mr. Lugnut 5x100 spacers, but then there is little thread left for the lugnuts.
I know of the Mopar Performance Wheel Studs (at 1" longer than stock), but that's overkill! All I need is apx. 1/4" - 1/2" longer. If I go with a 1" longer wheel stud, then my current lug nuts will no longer work, and I didn't want the look of open-ended lugnuts.
Has anyone found any other extended wheel studs that would fit the 2nd gen Neons?
Thanks for the help,
Corey

Now I'm not so sure that I found 1" longer studs!
"long wheel studs P4452162 (front) and P5007287 (rear)"
...only seem to apply for 95-99, 1st Gen.
Does anyone know what studs (1/4" to 1" longer) can be used for the 2nd Gen?
Thanks,
Corey

Naw,
Longer studs is just asking for trouble.
Especially w/the larger wheel. Longer studs and spacers overstress the studs, and the hub bearing.
I would say, get the right tires, Don't do it getto.......

I want to use the SRT 4 Rims & Tires on my 2000 Dodge Neon.
W/o redoing both the front & rear suspension to handle to wider tires, the easier (and much cheaper) solution is spacers & studs.
Since my car is 80% highway, and doesn't get driven hard, I should be able to make this retro-fit last.

Ok,
I'm just telling you, Our company policy (Tire Store) Is, Don't install them, because they have a high falure rate.
Most of the people I have seen that run SRT wheels on there neon's buy a skinnier tire, so the tire doesn't rub on the strut.
Spacing the wheel out, makes the wheel & tire stick out of the fender, and will probably rub on the fender.
I'm just trying to tell you all of the info that I know, to help keep you safe.

I agree with morning....get a different tire size and you should be fine. I agree 100% with the don't do it ghetto comment. Do it right or don't do it at all!!
