Default Need help!!!! Torque converter?

Hi, my girlfriends 05 neon 2.0l started acting weird. It only has around 90,000m and when you go to brake the car jumps and doent want to stop. It has to have something to do with the torque converter im guessing. Someone told me that its an electric torque converter and may be a sensor thats bad. Can someone tell me what may be the problem or is there something bad for going out on these cars? Also is anyone elses inner fenders so close to the belt tensioner you cant get a rachet between them?Any help would be appriciated. Thx

Clearance is an issue for all small cars with transverse mounted drivelines.
a tensioner tool is designed for this ( make one out of a piece of flat stock with a 3/8 square drive)

the torque convertor clutch is actually hydraulic but its controled by the PCM
the solenoid that controls the TCC is on the valve body.
a few things that tell the PCM to apply the TCC are: Coolant temp, vehicle speed, Throttle position.
supposed to only apply 35mph light throttle after 3rd gear

This. I managed to get away with using a breaker bar.
